First of all, I would like to thank you for visiting this site and taking an interest in finding the best physical therapy care for your patients who have been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Muscular dystrophy is a unique and difficult diagnosis which requires specific and knowledgeable care. Physical therapy has many benefits for the patient and the family in both physical and emotional realms.

Physical therapy is able to offer:

  • specific and knowledgeable PROM instruction
  • specific functional evaluation, treatment education and reassessments
  • casting for custom night splints for ankle dorsiflexion
  • appropriate adaptive equipment recommendations
  • education and adaptations for energy conservation
  • monitoring of range of motion, strength and function
  • consultation with the patient’s home and school caregivers

To enhance your patient and family’s ability to access physical therapy, please provide them with the following:

  • A prescription for Physical Therapy Evaluation and Treatment for 1 year
  • A referral to this website for more information on the diagnosis, physical therapy services and for many referrals
  • A prescription for Custom resting splints for bilateral ankle dorsiflexion
